Welcome to my first monthly income report for my blog!
I’m super excited, I really hope that this will hold me accountable and continue to push to see through my goals of financial independence and mobility.
I’m do have a full time job, that I really love. I love what I do, I love the people I work with… but I am an Australian citizen living and working in the US, and while we’re really happy here, you never know what the future will bring… so this blog is all about options. I’m intending to spend the next year getting this blog to a point where I could earn a living wage if I needed to. If I never need to, totally fine, but if we suddenly need to get up and go, then I’ll be glad for the effort.
So let’s get into it!
My first post was on the 11th of August, so it’s not a full month, but that’s okay.
I won’t be including the web-monetization from Coil and Cinnamon because it consists of hundreds of transactions… it’s honestly not much, a couple of dollars a month.
Income for August
+ $300 Cinnamon Boost
I was in the top ten creators on Cinnamon for the month of July (or from the 15th of July to the 15th of August, I’m not sure how it works)… so they gave me a boost.
+ $50 Cinnamon Competition
Cinnamon has a monthly competition which I won for this video (you have to have a Coil Subscription to view it, sorry)
+ $316.36 Coil Boost
I’m also not sure if this boost is for the month of July or from the 15th of July to the 15th of August. I wrote 4 Coil posts in July.
If you want more details on making money on blogging platforms, please check out my post here.
Costs for August
– $14.95 Domain Name for 1 year
The cost for lifebe.com.au.
– $49.95 SSL certificate for lifebe.com.au
I’m honestly not sure if I had to pay this or not, it was a super confusing situation… but I’ve got it now. Not sure if it’ll be recurring or not.
I’ve also got a webhost with an annual cost but that’s spread across quite a few websites so I won’t include that here.
Result for August
Income Total – $666.36
Expenses Total – $69.90
Profit Total – $596.46
Most blogs make their money from things like:
- YouTube ad revenue
- Website display ad revenue
- Affiliate Marketing
- Sponsored content
- Digital product sales
I don’t have the traffic for any of that. I’m more interested in exploring avenues like NFTs, blockchain technology, etc.
This is my Google Analytics for August. I’m not sure why it says 0 users… I got 6 hits from a post I put on Imgur and the rest is probably me. It’s going to take a while to build up a regular user base.
I’m not sure I’m using Imgur properly, but Pinterest seems pretty straightforward.
Obviously it’s very, very early days in my blogging journey…
…but I’m going to give it a year to see what happens.
I also earned 249.26 Hive for my posts and investments in the Hive ecosystem… which is worth about $39. I didn’t put it in my income tally because I’m keeping all my Hive on the blockchain. It’s not true revenue.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks for reading…
